New Balance 1906LAI reinterprets the 1906 running model as a slip-on, loafer-inspired everyday shoe. The silhouette pairs an open mesh upper with layered synthetic overlays and select leather elements for a structured, breathable construction in a monochrome black palette. A single hook-and-loop strap across the instep replaces traditional laces, creating a streamlined slip-on design with adjustable closure. Underfoot, the model uses a substantial midsole based on classic New Balance running tooling, incorporating N-ergy cushioning and ABZORB SBS pods at the heel for impact absorption and stability. A segmented rubber outsole supports traction, while the padded low collar and molded heel structure contribute to a secure feel in daily use. Subtle 1906L branding on the lateral heel completes the slip-on interpretation of the 1906 line.
