Merrell MTL Skyfire 2 Matryx is built for speed on technical trails. The low, agile profile keeps you close to the ground, while the streamlined Matryx upper wraps the foot with a precise, supportive feel. Woven with Kevlar and high-tenacity polyamide, the single-layer construction resists abrasion and unwanted stretch, yet still lets air move freely through the shoe.

Recycled laces and tongue webbing reflect a more considered material choice, and the breathable mesh lining is treated to help move moisture away when the pace picks up. Underfoot, a dual-density FloatPro Foam midsole balances cushioning with a direct connection to the trail, supported by a BZM-8 flex plate that adds rock protection and torsional stability on uneven ground. A Vibram MegaGrip outsole with 5 mm lugs handles both wet slabs and dry dust, while the 25/19 mm stack and 6 mm drop keep the ride responsive rather than soft. Temperature-regulating 37.5 mesh in the tongue lining and footbed cover helps maintain a steady climate around the foot, and the fully synthetic, vegan-friendly build keeps materials consistent. Finished in the Umber colorway, it sits easily next to technical run gear and more understated outdoor pieces.
