With the vision to create a platform that inspires our community, we present Rezet Store Visits. Mixing art, culture, and community, Rezet Store Visits is a series that seeks to explore the people and places that inspire us. Introducing friends within the Rezet Community that have been with us since the beginning, and those we meet along the way.
Giving the gift of flowers is linked to much more than just the gift itself, it is often based on strong emotions. The love embodied in a bouquet given to your partner, the pride associated with giving flowers to someone who has accomplished something major, what if it were possible to make these feelings eternal? Botané allows for this feeling to become eternal. They have created hyper realistic flowers that not only imitate real flowers but also pushes the boundaries of how we can use flowers.
Since 2023, Botané has been pioneering the market for artificial flowers. They have transformed not only the act of giving flowers as a gift but also the perception of flowers by merging ideas from different industries such as fashion, art, and the classical flower industry. Which is why we at Rezet have teamed up with them to create three major floral art installations in the windows of our new clubhouse location. We wanted to catch up with the team at Botané to chat about their beginnings, their inspiration, and how we came up with the idea for the art installation that is now on display at Grønnegade 1.
How did the idea for Botané come about?
The idea for Botané come quite naturally to us, from the need for long-lasting floral solutions. We all loved the feeling of having fresh flowers at the office and really valued it, but real flowers required too much maintenance and resulted in significant waste. We then asked ourselves if there were any alternatives. This led us to explore artificial flowers, but we couldn’t find anything that looked remotely close to real flowers or had the same aesthetic appeal. We then turned to dried flowers, where we found many beautiful options, many one them in great quality, but none of them truly gave us that feeling that real fresh flowers did. So, we began creating our own artificial flowers as a way to meet our own needs. But we quickly discovered we weren’t the only ones with this need which was the start of Botané.
Being a floral studio, as the name implies, and working with collections, how does that work when selling flowers?
We have always wanted to transcend one industry, which is why our primary inspiration comes from the fashion world. We draw on colors, trends, and the constant edger to change of fashion to influence our designs and collections. Fashion allows for personal style expression, and similarly, our flowers are a way of communicating emotions and personality. This is why, similar to the fashion industry, we wanted to introduce collections to push the boundaries of how flowers are both used and perceived. Since the flowers are artificial, we can use flowers in settings where we would not normally be able to use them.
So you could say you are revolutionizing the way we use flowers?
Haha, I like that! You could say the revolution lies in the quality and lifelike nature of our artificial flowers. They offer a new way to think about what we can do with floral arrangements, much like our window installations. Unlike real flowers that are limited to their natural life span, artificial flowers are long-lasting as they never expire. Which changes two things, the ability to create permanent floral designs, and in the settings we use these designs. Such as having bouquets of flowers where there is no light, is now possible. Which is why we consider our products are more than flowers, they are complete interior projects, adding value to any space.
Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind the window installations?
The Rezet window installations are inspired by the brand’s signature color, red. We aimed to create a red poppy garden using our own vases made from surplus marble that we transformed from waste into containers. The installation draws inspiration from the idea of flowers overtaking a city, the red poppy growing out of the concrete pavement of the city. The second window features a green statement bouquet that represents both the versatility and potential of artificial flowers but also the ambition of the new Rezet store. Both installations are designed out from Rezet’s aesthetic and colors, and combine our shared interest in margarine fashion, art and culture.
