ASICS GEL-Kayano 12.1 is a technical running silhouette that revisits mid-2000s performance design with updated cushioning. The upper combines open mesh underlays with layered synthetic leather overlays to create structure and airflow around the foot. Metallic-look panels and ribbed detailing reference European gothic armor, while ASICS stripe overlays and GEL-Kayano branding connect the model to the brand’s running line. Underfoot, the midsole borrows tooling from the GEL-Nimbus 17, pairing dual GEL technology inserts with a FLUIDRIDE cushioning structure for impact dispersion over longer distances. A GUIDANCE TRUSSTIC support system is integrated through the midfoot for added stability, and the rubber outsole features defined traction zones for grip. The Black/Obsidian Grey colorway is finished with a lighter midsole and reflective-style accents.
