Editorial: Reebok Club C

November 3, 2022

A classic since 1985.

Even though the Reebok Club C has been updated throughout the years with elements that fit the requirements of today, it’s still the same 80’s shoe that graced tennis courts and captivated sneakerheads many years ago.

The Club C continue to remain just as popular as it was in the 1980’s when court shoes started coming on to the sneaker scene and Reebok was taking the charge. Back in 1985 it was predicted that the Club C silhouette was going to be something special, and before the shoe had even been released, it had over 10,000 preorders banked.

It became available in men’s sizing in spring 1989 and in women’s sizing in July 1993. That same year, the Club C was officially classified under the “Classics” category, instead of falling under the category of a tennis shoe. With that, the 80’s icon officially moved off the court, and into the closets of trendsetters everywhere.

With its simple, clean and court-inspired look, the Reebok Club C represents the opposite of the futuristic function trend. No knits, no space-age foams, no rethinking of the shape. The Club C does not follow trends or belong to a certain time. It thrives through all eras and has become a timeless classic thanks to its sleek and minimalistic design.

Even though the selection of Club C’s are still referred to as a retro tennis shoe, it has become a classic in both sports and casual wear. With materials such as off-white leathers, suede, and grass green design elements directly from the tennis court, the Club C is the perfect shoe for adding some throwback-appeal to your wardrobe.

To highlight the iconic heritage of the Reebok Club C, we chose to create the atmosphere that you would find in a 1980’s living room. The campaign was set in a warm and minimalistic setting, to capture the timelessness and vintage feel of the throwback tennis shoes.
