Introducing Dr. Martens

For more than 60 years, Dr. Martens has encouraged a diverse range of individuals to embrace their authentic selves, and the timeless product portfolio has served as a symbol of self-expression in subcultures worldwide.

What started in the 1940s as a German post-war business venture, later blossomed into the nonconformist UK brand we know and love today.

First came the “1460” silhouette - a sturdy, smooth leather construction born on April 1st 1960 with distinctive yellow welt stitch, chunky, grooved AirWair sole and a black and yellow heel loop.
One year later, the 8-eyelet boot design was followed by a shorter more subtle version: the “1461” - both core styles in Dr. Martens’ collection to this day.

Dr. Martens’ reliable no-nonsense designs quickly became a British working class favorite, but their unapologetic blend of fashion and function intrigued movements and rebels along the way giving the iconic footwear designs a rich and, in some ways, countercultural history. From skinheads, punks and goths to ‘90s grunge, indie crowds, musicians and pop culture cool kids - with each group adding its own individual flavor to the brand. 

The rowdy, youthful vibe known to define Dr. Martens continues to shape and define the fashion scene, making Docs like the “1460” and “1461” ever-relevant.
